Some men come to

The editorial Diedra

a lot of men in the dormitory. The students from

upset because Ms. Levi

my last editorial. I just
want to share my Philander
Christmas list with all my
readers.
1. A reasonable facsimile
of a Journalism Department

2. A non-prehistoric
method of registration.
3. A fence around the perimeter of Philander Smith

4. An essay to accompany
all incoming student applications.
5. An indoor heated swimming pool and nautilus
room.
6. Current movies shown
in the auditorium at a reasonable price.
7. The library to be expanded and brought up to
1990 standards.
8. An additional coed dormitory for upper classmen
9. An expansion of the curriculum.
10. The students to get more
involved in black social issues.
Now, I can'tfigureout

people who can't swim or
students who don't like essays. It would be nice for

PSC
gospel group
sings praises
by Marcus G. Holloway
"Pieces of Praise" is an appropriate name for a
newly formed PSC gospel group. The group is affiliated
with and backed by Philander's Student Christian Association.
Seventeen spirit-filled students have joined together to deliver some of the most moving gospel performances heard in the Little Rock area. "The group consists
of people from all over". Tanner Gray, one of the singers
said. "That's how we got our name. We come from
Arkansas, Tennessee, Indiana, and South Carolina. We
think of ourselves as merely pieces, praising God's name."
"Pieces" founders are Darius Nelson, Damion
Miller, and Tanner Gray. They are better known around
campus and in business circles as the DDT Connection. The
group made its debut last month at the weekly PSC assembly
scheduled for students and faculty. Around that same time
the group made its first church appearance at Little Rock's
Fellowship Missionary Church. "We literally brought the
walls down," Gray said. "We put all our hearts and souls into
that performance."
The groups next appearance will be at the Annual
Christmas Dinner in the Philander Smith College cafeteria at
7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12. Gray said the year has
been busy and they still have projects waiting in the wings.
"We are planning a concert/revival in the near future as well
as various community oriented projects," Gray said. "We
get a great deal of support from the community and we'd like
to show our appreciation for that.'
Pieces of Praise is a non-profit organization.
Their main goal is to help awaken the spiritual aspect, they
feel, resides in all people. The group attempts to accommodate most, if not all, the requests for guest performances
at area churches. After a late start in 1990, the group expects
to have a banner year for 1991. "We can only hope those who
hear us will become more enlightened about Christ and
make that step toward him," Gray said. "You know they say,
you take one step and he'll take two." Gray also pointed out
how the singers want to show the community that young
people are becoming more involved in the Church. The ten
young ladies and seven men range in age from 18-20 years
old.
