FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings! On behalf of the trustees,
faculty, staff and students, I want to thank
National Alumni Association members
for the generous gift of $50,000 that was
presented to the College at our May 2001
graduation by Ms. Kathryn Worthen,
National Alumni Association President.
We were overwhelmed by your
generosity and support of our Capital
Campaign.
We appreciate your pledge of
$600,000 toward our campaign goal.
Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed
Your gift is being matched by the Bush
Foundation and I know you are pleased that we can double the
value of your generous contributions. We are only $5 million away
from our campaign goal of $30 million.
These funds will pay for a new library and technology center, a
new science and health mission center, library books, the
renovation of the Sherman E . Tate Recreational Center (Old Gym)
and an endowed fund to provide adequate salaries for the faculty
and staff of our great institution.
The College is also engaged in revitalizing the surrounding
neighborhood. We will build new residences for students, faculty
and staff through a living/learning community that employs a new
paradigm for living in the community and integrates key elements
from the Black Family Studies Program.
Your support is greatly needed to successfully complete this
campaign. You will soon receive additional communication with
details about how you can participate from Ms. Worthen and Ms.
Jearlene Miller, Chair of our Alumni Campaign.
We thank those of you who have already made a pledge and/or
contribution. Your participation in this campaign will leave a
lasting legacy and take the College to the next level of success.
