1962 GRADS RESTORE
THEIR CLASS GIFT
In 1962, the graduating class of Philander
Smith College donated a beautiful podium
to the College, for use in the M . L . Harris
Fine Arts Auditorium. For over 40 years,
the podium served the College well, until
age and heavy usage, contributed to its
deterioration.
The Class of 1962, under the leadership
o f B a r b a r a B r o c k - J o r d a n , Bennie
Williams, and Marva C . Watts, recently
raised the necessary funds among fellow
classmates, to restore the podium to its
original state of beauty and grandeur.
The Class exceeded its fundraising goal,
designating the excess to assist a needy
student at the College.
The restorative work was performed
by K i m Blaylock of Furniture Medic in
Little Rock.
Contributing classmates in addition
to Brock-Jordan, Williams, and Watts
include Willarene P. Beasley, Lester Grant,
Jr., Clemmie Coulter Hill, Joyce Kimbell
Marvel, and Irigene E . McCree Morehead.
The P S C family again thanks the Class of
1962 for this memorable gift.

family and friends to j o i n you. What

and vacation at the same time.

Surprise. Surprise. Surprise. After a

his wife, Adria, to Little Rock and PSC.
Delia G. Anderson
We appreciate alumni who accepted the opportunity to
participate in the presidential search and selection process in
September and October. Your input greatly assisted the Board of
Tmstees in the decision-making process.
In this issue, we have included a registration form for the
Convention Cmise, a membership form to join the National
Alumni Association, and a contribution form for the College's
Annual Fund campaign. Complete all three, and you can consider
yourself an exemplary PSC alumnus! We look forward to hearing
from you.

ARE YOU A MEMBER OF THE PHILANDER SMITH LEGACY SOCIETY?
The Philander Smith Legacy Society has been established
to recognize alumni and friends who

as enjoy the potential financial benefits which flow from
sound investment and estate planning.
Planned gifts are as unique as the individual who makes
them. A donor m a y make his or her gift unrestricted so
that it can be used i n an area where it is needed most, or
may designate the gift to benefit a specific department or
program. Either way, your gift w i l l help sustain the vitality
and strength o f the College.
I f y o u have included Philander S m i t h College as a
beneficiary i n your estate plans, please inform the Office
of A l u m n i Affairs by writing to: Delia Anderson, Office of
A l u m n i Affairs, Philander Smith College, One Trudie Kibbe
Reed Drive, Little Rock, A R 72202. Unless anonymity is
requested, y o u w i l l be recognized as a member o f the
Philander Smith Legacy Society, chaired by Dr. Kathryn

Planned giving is a way to invest in
the future of Philander Smith College
and place an enduring imprint on the
institution. There are several planned
giving options: a bequest in a w i l l or living trust; a charitable
gift annuity; a charitable remainder trust; or designation
of the College as beneficiary o f a retirement plan or life
insurance policy. I n return, donors enjoy the personal
satisfaction o f advancing the future o f the College, as w e l l

SUPPORT THE PSC ANNUAL FUND
A s we celebrate the hiring o f Dr. Walter M . Kimbrough as our new President, we are asking P S C A l u m n i to contribute at
least $1,000.00 to the unrestricted Annual Fund Drive. I f you gave more a year before, please match or exceed that gift to
Philander Smith College. I f you can't give $1,000.00, please give your best.
These gifts w i l l have an immediate impact, as they w i l l help narrow the gap between what it costs to educate P S C students
