1965-2000

The Upward Bound Collection includes program guidelines, proposals, administrative documents and publications related to Philander Smith College's Upward Bound Program from 1965 to the early 2000's. The summer program gave undeserved students from high schools in Little Rock, Arkansas the opportunity to enhance their reading, writing, speech and creative skills in preparation for post-secondary education. The collection also contains information about the TRIO program and original issues of The Rocket, a unique newspaper produced by the students of the Upward Bound program.
