Description

The George R. Smith College Documentation collection consists of copies of correspondence, texts, news articles and historical documents collected by Philander Smith College's Social Justice Initiative to support their efforts to "permanently recognize the existence of George R. Smith as a part of Philander Smith College" (Social Justice Initiative, 2013). The collection includes experts from the Papers of George R. Smith (The State Historical Society of Missouri), correspondence between PSC President George C. Taylor, Bishop Clair and other officials of the Methodist Episcopal Church as well as a photocopy of a text edited by Rose M. Nolen, Lost on the Prairie: George R. Smith College Methodist School for Blacks, Sedalia, Missouri 1888-1925.
