Yearbook photo of PSC professor Georg G. Iggers circa 1957. Dr. Iggers, his wife Wilhelmina (Wilma) (also a PSC professor) and their children lived on campus and were active members of the local community. Georg Iggers became a member of the NAACP and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity in the 1950's (Iggers and Iggers, 2002). Dr. Iggers penned a letter that was published in the Arkansas Gazette newspaper in 1951 that lead to the desegregation of the public library in Little Rock (Freyer, n.d.). Georg and Wilma's civil rights work with the NAACP played an integral part in the decision to desegregate Little Rock Central High School in 1957. Dr. Iggers is a Distinguished Professor Emeritus for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Buffalo, NY and PSC awarded the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters to Dr. Iggers in 2002.
