Images of the Arkansas Memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in front of the M. L. Harris Fine Arts Building, dedicated on May 12, 1990 (President's Report, 1991). The memorial project was coordinated by the Arkansas Minority Advisory Council in Pine Bluff, AR (Moorehead, 1989). Philander Smith College was selected by that agency as the site for the King memorial, which included a bronze "eternal flame urn," a nameplate and portrait of Dr. King. It was sculpted by Dr. Carey Wynn II, a professor and Pine Bluff native who taught at King's Alma mater Morehouse College (Moorehead, 1989).
