Village Square Apartments.
Title
Village Square Apartments.
Description
The Village Square was part of a unique urban renewal project for Philander Smith College. The complex was completed in 1964. The College worked with Little Rock Housing Authority on the $2.8 million project to build 240 modernized apartments for central Little Rock residents. The Philander Smith College Trustees formed a non-profit agency (Village Square, Inc.) and oversaw the development and management of Village Square, which included five residential buildings and a shopping center. PSC faculty and their families, as well as other citizens paid $55-88.50 per month to live in the air conditioned, brick apartment homes.
