The Panther was published monthly (except June-August) by students of Philander Smith College, under the supervision of the college's Office of Public Relations.
This Collection contains copies dating from February 1939 to November 1999. Many issues are missing, however the collection has merit for the historical information it contains about Philander Smith College students during that period.

Note: The Panther was revived in 1989 by the Dean of Students, Vernon K. Lane, after a ten (10) year absence.
